RE: Hunting teachers
It was my father also who taught me the love and respect of the land, and the game we pursued. He pretty much taught me the basics (as he knew them), and I RAN with it from there. I've learned alot on my own through reading, and listening to other hunterslike you folks. (THANK YOU.) I just read in my new National Rifle Association instructors magazine that the NRA is now going to start teaching a course to train Hunting Instructors. I guess its a pretty straight forward class to become an instuctor, and if it's anything like their other classes, its TOP NOTCH. If anyone is interested, I would think all you need to do is call NRA's toll free number, and ask for the instructor training department. But like most of you folks, good ole' dad started me off, and I SURE am glad.

My father, but he no longer hunts due to his deteriorating health.
I miss it. My in laws have been a big help in keeping it alive |
RE: Hunting teachers
Best friend father.
1st time out @ 15 years old, he pointed out a pheasant running through the tall grass and he told me to shoot it! I argued with him, as I thought it was a house cat. We went back and fourth 3-4 times and said he was going to shoot it if I didn't. He was right it was a pheasant and he had it mounted for me for x-mas. I was hooked!!!!!!!! |
RE: Hunting teachers
My father took me fishing a few times when I was really young, 4 or 5,and he took me hunting a few times when I was legal, 12.Other than that I was on my own to figure it outbecause he was working 6and seven days a week. He got me hooked and I took the ball and ran withit and never looked back.

RE: Hunting teachers
My dad taught me the basics of small game and duck hunting and how to handle dogs on pheasants. I learned big game hunting on my own and with the help of friends.
Dad has since passed away, and my only wish is that i could hunt with him again behind a good pair of bird dogs. |
