RE: Hunting teachers
Grew up in a non-hunting family. Went deer hunting with my husband a few times just to watch. He was certainly the one who started my interest in hunting. After that, I can't thank NWTF Women in the Outdoors program enough. And my boss. He was agreat helpteaching meto turkey hunt. He called in my first turkey for me. Shot my first turkey, my first rabbitand my first deer in the same year (2000). The rest has all been through hours upon hours of just getting out there and learning on my own. I have a neighbor who shoots competitive archery plus hunts deer and turkey with a bow. She said she would teach me to shoot a bow so that is my next project. :D

RE: Hunting teachers
I never really had a teacher growing up as I came from a broken family and my dad didn't really hunt. I did go with a grandfather that mostly sat in the truck and exchange stories though. I also heard some folks talking about it and picked up on a few of thier ideas as well. Overall though the one that taught me was me.. I took to the woods on my own when I was 15 and the law stated 16 up here. I always brought home some birds and my first deer then. ButI had to get some help to dress it out and to drag it out of the woods. I have hunted ever since and then my next door neighbor taught me alot more on tracking and how to drag a deer more easily when you are alone. I also taught myself how to bow hunt when I was 18 as no one here did much of that back then. It was a cheap bow and after a couple years I gave up on that. Then back about 12 years ago I got a new bow and must say that I enjoy that better than with a rifle or a shotgun.I hunt by stalking and have shot 4 deer so far that way as deer are not very thick up here. But, the satisfaction of stalking and be able to get one with a bow is surely a great feeling to me..
