anyone here use hommade treestands to hunt with?

i have constructed a few out of metal, one ladderstand that folds down and has wheels, and some other hang on stands.

Depends what you're talking about/considering? Permanent wooden treestand styles? Sure. Homemade ladder stand setup? Can save a few bucks....though you can buy a decent ladder stand for $150 bucks, steel construction, lighter weight.....if you're looking to be mobile, I say buy one.

yeah my buddy welds up his own ladder stands. those things are awesome. they are realy sturdy,but a bear to put up

I used to but am now in the process of replacing of my homemade wooden ladder stands with factory metal ladders and using factory climbers and/or lock-on stands for areas that these work well. Reasons I am replacing the homemade wooden ladders are: In general the factory metal ladders are easier to set up and move, and the climber and lock-on stands work well down here in the woodlands and swamps of SE Alabama.
