Google has a site called "google the earth" or something like that. The photos are pretty good quality and pretty current as well.

I use the one through MSN. I think you have to have a login, such as a hotmail address. Just go to the MSN homepage, click on maps & directions, and a map of the US comes up on the right, with a split window, you can close the left side. Then you can zoom in on your area of interest, load photo, roadmap, or combo. It is awesome, especially as you zoom in close. Really good color image (summer of course). Let me know (PM) if you need help with it.

It is going to depend on when the last flights were made in your area. Check several of them, and check with your local Property Appraiser and County Forester.

aerial map website?
i am looking to get a good quality map for free so i can go out in the woods and mark down trails, rubs, etc.
This is what I use:

http://earth.google.com/ (Free)
Gives decent quality but most ofthe pix are during summer and terrain features are harder to make out, though the tilt feature is helpful to pick out large elevation changes.

http://www.terraserver-usa.com/(Free)
Provides ok quality but gives you urban area photos, aerial photos, and topo maps.

http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/(Free)
I just became aware of this one and it seems to provide much better quality aerial photos taken during times of low foliage so you can make out trails and even individual trees. But it runs slow on my machine.

http://www.maptech.com/index.cfm(Not Free)
A good reasonable package is Terrain Navagator from Maptech. Good quality topos for $99.95 for your entire state, or several states if you live in the New England or Mid Atlantic regions.

Some options to consider.

For aerial maps I like http://www.flashearth.com

It let's you toggle back and forth between map sites like google earth, microsoft VE and Yahoo! maps and you can then find out which one is best for your area.
