Default .54 cal thompson center percussion cap muzzle loader

is there any tips advice or anything else anyone one could tell me about shooting this gun. right now i'm shooting .54 powerbelt sabots(295grain) with 110 grains of powder.

taht is a lot of gun. if you test shot at the load you are using you should be fine . my brother and i had the same cal. of gun and they both shot better with different loads.

My 54Cal. I'm just shooting Patch and Ball,pushed by 90gr. Pyrodex.

Check out the black powder forum powerbelts are a poor choice of bullets when you use over 80 grains of powder. They de fragment when they get pushed by heavy charges causing a lot of wounded & lost deer.

Your gun has a 1-48" twist.My TC .54 Renegade likes 100gr/FFG with a .018 patch and .530" ball or cast TC maxi-ball 430gr slug on top of 90gr FFG.The latter load outdoes the 45-70 that thinned out the bison........................Harold
