I have always been told that a bobcats hair and urine will spook off deer. I didnt believe it all that much until this year. My favorit hunting spot was unproductive this year. I have always had my choice on deer in this spot. A month ago, while hog hunting, I saw a bobcat that was living in this spot. I removed the bobcat and guess what happened. My favorit spot has deer all over it agian, too bad seasons over.

One of my favorite spots to hunt, on any given day can produce deer or coyotes. I've even seen deer and coyotes on the same field, hundreds of yards apart of course. The coyotes are mousing while the deer feed, stomp and snort alot.

The first doe I shot this past season was walking along a trail that a bobcat had walked along 20 minutes earlier. My observation about deer and bobcat.

I hunt in west Texas right off of the caprock. I do not have a large population of bobcats on my land. This is actually the only one I have seen in over 10 years. I guess that could have something to do with it. I dont know if that was the whole reason for the slow season on this end of my property. I found it rather unusual, this area is usually a very productive spot. The other end of my property is where I shot most of my deer this year. Its productivity was about par for the coarse.
Now as far as other preditors, I have badgers and coyotes all over, they dont seem to bother the deer. I guess it was the new smell of the bobcat that threw them for a curve this year. I guess it was the unfamiliar smell more than anything.

Bobcats are any and everywhere around here. My best spot is loaded full of cats. I'm sure they don't like each other, but as long as they don't make contact, they'll do just fine together.. IMO
