RE: My father and I

I learned to hunt from my father. Although we dont always see eye to eye; we still hunt together every year. Congrats on great buck!

Nice deer! As a new father, I can relate to what your Dad did. I hope I am there when my son kills his first deer.

RE: My father and I

It felt very lonely until he arrived.
I can relate. Not trying to hyjack your thread but I had a similar situation a couple weeks ago. I shot my biggest buck ever. One I may never top (I hope so but who knows) Anyway I was actually hunting on my dads land. I work with him too but had skipped out that morning. I actually heard him start his truck and drive off to work about 15 minutes before I shot my buck. The first thing I did was call him. In fact I was talking to him as the deer took his last breaths. (Had to walk up and finish him off) Anyway he said he had to head into work and asked if I was ok without his help. I was devistated but didn't let him know and said I'd be ok. Well about five minutes later I get a call he's headed back and there was no way he'd miss this. (Work is only 25 minutes or so away) So I can relate to feeling lonely. I sat in admaration of this huge whitetail buck by myself. I was excited and was so ready for dad to arive. After dragging my buck out of the feild (70-80 yards) I was wooped. I was ready for the help. When he showed up I was sitting on his front porch waiting for him. The first thing he said was that my grandfather (84) was on his way as well. So we walked back to my deer and took some pictures before Grandpa arived. Here I went from disapointment to my two best freinds in the world being there on this day with me. What a memory for me. Other than with my wife and kids I love being around my dad and granfather as much or more than anyone in the world.

Congrats on a great buck and a great memory for you and you dad.

Here is a pic of my dad and me that day

Hey cherish every moment of it....I remember those days of huntin with dad and hangin with dad, now he lives in florida with old people and acts like an old person. It sucks, he gave me his custom '06 this year but i would rather him hunt with me still....
