I am going to illinois the end of this week dec 1. Just wondering if the deer will rutting still or will they be back to normal? Also what is the best tactic for hunting this time of year? calls, scents, ect.

well.....they certainly won't be back to NORMAL.....whatever that is.....they act differently than any other time of year during this period.

in my experience, you may get lucky and find a mature buck chasing second rut does, but mainly it seems as though concentrating on the hot food sources is your best shot at a good buck. focusing on the doe group congregations is key as well.

Still in the rut...for sure. I would use some scent and some calls.

2 of my 3 bucks I got the first week of December. one was checking his scrape, and the other I called inwith a doe bleat.
