Default Deer Price

Hey guys new to the forum! Trying to find out some info. I recently lost my home to a fire and everything in it, sucks but thats life.

My question is: I had a 155 class deer that was destroyed and for insurance purposes have to come up with replacement cost. I know if I was to go buy a deer that size it would cost more than the typical taxidermy cost of 300-400. Do any of you have any web sites that I can visit or anyone I can call to back up what price it might cost me to replace something like that. I'm not looking to buy a deer but would like info on this matter. Thanks in advance!

I would suggest going over to Ebay and seeing what mounts are bringing as well as horn prices for equivalent racks. Also, go over to taxidermy.net and ask the same questions in the forums as those guys have to deal with it all of the time and they should give you some good advice. I magine it if you could value the deer at all that it cost you in time and gear to get it. Years of hunting for the elusive trophy and spending countless thousands on camo, scent control, weapons and such and then be reimbursed by the insurance company. Beautiful.

bpitko my heart goes out to you, I had a monsterous buck that burnt up in a house fire in 82, like you I lost it all to. I know for a fact that you will not replace it with someone elses, I wish I could give a value, but you know as well as I do that it is priceless, one of a kind, and yours!

Noleball made some excellent suggestions. Good luck.

bpitco, The following is from an insurance claim thread. I imagine the price will go down from the 184 mentioned to your 155. Sentamental value is also very important. Good luck!!!

"More importantly, 185 class racks are not readily replaced. The market value is what your insurance co should look at, the replacement value. Antlers making B&C easily start at the 1000.00 to 1500.00 dollar level."
