I was watching a video Muley Madness 3. They showed a father and grown
son with the rack of a 230 muley. It was huge. There was another hunter after the same deer. He got a crack at it but hit it in the
antlers. The deer ran towards the father/son and the dad got a
couple shots and hit the deer but did not kill it. The dads gun
then jammed. The other hunter then came over and offered his gun
to the dad to kill the deer. How many folks here would have
killed the deer and said it was theirs?

Hey sticker did the antler vaporize?POOF!
humm........if i had shot and vaporized the antler i sure would not have kill it unless the deer had a heart attack!
but the other guy hit it and the deer would probably die from his shot not mine. humm.......... i would help get his gun cleared and then he could shoot it with his gun.
I am selfesh with my guns!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I believe in first blood, whether I'd given him my rifle or shot the buck myself, I still would have givin him the deer....it's simple.

Give him the deer man, I am a strong believer in what goes around comes around.

I shoot and get an antler hit, it runs off and another hunter shoots and gets a hit, but apparently not a killing shot and his gun jams. I come along and the deer is still there, I would either offer to help unjam his gun or offer him mine. As long as I am there, I don't mind if someone shoots my guns. It is obviously his deer, since my shot was a miss.

The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!

God Bless,
Dave

I feel that it is his deer but I wouldn't be inclined to handing my gun over to a stranger . I guess I lived in the cities to long to put myself in that situation .

wait a minute I was confused I think that it is totally the dads deer man. If the guy hit it in the antler it would not have died anyways. Whoever shot and drew the first blood should get the deer unless of course their shot would have obvioulsy not killed the deer.

The father & son would get the deer. No doubt about it. I wouldn't offer my gun to the father but would shoot the deer to help him out.

I think the guy on the video did the right thing. If it was me, I'd consider that I flubbed my shot, the other guy didn't. As others have said, he drew first blood. If I'm hunting close enough to another party where I can walk over that quickly, its likely that they're already known to me. Wouldn't bother me to let someone I know borrow my gun for a shot. Doubt I'd let someone wander off with it to track a deer though.

This might sound a little &quot;off&quot; to some of you. And maybe you folks out west hunt a little bit different...But I wouldn't even THINK about hunting so close to someone else that that scenario could even come up.

If I even suspect that there is another hunter within a half mile or so,,,I'll pack up and move.

Now, if I'm walking in or out of the woods, and came across a guy with a goofed up weapon and a wounded deer...Sure, I'd offer my rifle to him. Thats what this whole brotherhood of hunters is all about. I would be happy for him...Who knows, I might have just made a lifelong friend.
