I hear ya on the mounting costs, I got a break from a younger guy last fall who did my 10pt and still did a good job for 275. But before I payed 400 for a mount.
Oh I would shoot one, I passed on a young one before though. She was with her mama....thats a no no to me.

Never. One, they are illegal to shoot, (at least in wisconsin) and 2, they are a beautiful and rare kind of animal. they deserve to live so others can apreciate the beauty of them.
