The nine pointer I have mounted was standing next to a much bigger buck and when I shot they both dropped. The bigger of teh two deer got up and I could not get another shot on it. The nine pointer was 18 1/2 inside and 13 tall. The other deer was found later 11 pointer 20 inches inside and 14 tall. I am almost positive that it was the same deer. The horns were white and eat up. I still have them in my gargage. This year a younger hunter had three doe stop close to him and he said he picked out the biggest but they all fell. That is the first I have heard of killing three with one shot. He did not even have to make a finishing shot!!

This year I arrowed a couple deer, one after the other, within 5 min. But my buddy shot and killed 5 deer on the same rifle drive this year(in 10 min). Said he had to reload a couple times. But only one of them was a big buck. That's a tough one to beat though.

I watched a farmer drop 2 does with 1 shot once. He told me does it regularly when shooting crop damage permits. He would wait till one was behind the other and hit the first behind the shoulder or high in the back.

My grandfather, out west, years ago, shot two mule deer with one shot. Shot up hill at a doe, two deer came rolling down the hill to his feet. Never saw the second one behind the first.

Wouldn't you want to avoid a shot where you could get two deers due to the fact you may kill one and injure and not recover the other? In Arizona it would be illegal, so I know I wouldn't do it.

azhunter, my hat is off to you. I saw that this thread had 17 hits and I thought to myself, " That 'ol bud2002 sure is getting and earful."
Dang fellas, why in the heck are you trying to kill 2 deer in one shot? A couple of you claim that you have done it by accident. How in the heck to you shoot 2 deer with one shot by accident? I know that it could happen from time to time but come on! I have never shot at a deer with another deer standing behind it. Why would you take a chance at injuring the other deer? That's just plain stupid. Like huntma says, don't leave your ethics in the truck.

There have been a lot of ethics issue threads here lately and I am surprised to see that this thread got all the way to AZ and Johnny before anyone said anything against trying to shoot two deer with one shot!
Not seeing a deer standing behind another one is one thing, purposely trying to make this type of shot is another!
The odds of wounding one or both deer are too great and attempting this typs of shot is by all means unethical! This is truly the type of thing that gives hunters a bad name, and there is no way to justify trying to take two deer at one time!
