People always say it's not good to shoot on the run, but I always figure, if you can do it, why not? I have killed a lot of deer on the run, and have never crippled a deer in my life. I've got a lot of practice shooting at coyotes on the run, and if you can stone a coyote running, dropping a larger is nothing.
In answer to the topic, when I was about 12 I had to shoot a doe 5 times. I knocked her down on the first one, but she kept getting up. I put 2 in the front shoulder, 2 in the heart and lungs, and the one that finally ended it in the neck.

3 on one I got a couple times. When I first started I shot a couple deer with a 12 gauge right through the lungs. A killing shot but they run. Well not wanting them to get away I kept shootin at em. It tended to mess up some meat. Now I hit the shoulder and drop them in site. I will also put a killing shot in a deer I hate to see a deer suffer and will not hesitate so I can say I only shot it once.
6 on one I missed. We put a dandy of a buck out on a drive. It went right by me at 50 yards broadside in the wide open. All safe background to shoot. I have no problem taking a short shot on a jogging deer with no brush. I take the first shot and he does not even flinch, repeat this four times! He goes into a pine thicket we push him outa there and again at 40 yards broadside two more time and nothing!! He runs into one of my buddies at 10 yards and he dropped em. Nice big buck. I head right to the range and shoot the gun. 15 inches low at 50 yards!!! Still have no idea how that scope got nocked!

I have shot all my deer only once(unless you count grazing one, then getting another opportunity at him a few days later and hitting correctly), with a gun anyway, I had to shoot a deer with a bow this year twice. Of course, I have to admit i have missed a couple too
