Head shots on deer aren't for everyone or every occasion. I take them if the deer is 50 yds or less, standing still and I have a good rest. if not its the boiler room. You must be capable of precision shooting at the distance you decide on taking the shot.

I keep em in close. In the thick black brush i can hear deer walking arround me all day somedays, but you cant shoot them if you cant see them.By the time i do see them, sometimes there in my back pocket.I wouldnt feel comfortable shooting a deer in the head more than 30-40ft.without a scope, and i dont like scopes in my neck o the woods when the farthest shot will be 50yds.

Shoot behind the shoulder. Head shots are a low percentage. I recall a thred not to long ago about a guy shooting one in the jaw. Let them walk if you don't have a high percentage shot.

Hi Dan! I was wondering when you would show up.If i can brain a squirrel@ treetop I dont have trouble doing the same to a deer at the same distance.Jaw shooting deer comes from shooting at running deer,or just bad shooting.Over the last 30 yrs,ive scored 100% on my attempts on head shots.I dont get cocky, there sure shots just like a lung shot at 150 yds.

Depends on weapon and distance. I hunt a lot with a shotgun(buckshot) and ifthe shotinside 20 yards or so it's lights out.

I don't see where thats wrong, if anything is good because less suffering for the animal. Squirrels i normally aim for the head but deer i've never been brave enough to try it just for fear of missing exact target
