You got it Dan,I normally wont take one on a deer, but sometimes the shot is inside 10 yds and standing.Be honest, how many wouldnt?

Honestly, if a deer is at 10 yards and a broadside isn't presented, I'd opt for a neck before a head.

i would on any deer out to about 100yrds with a good rest..and have done it many times over the years..unless it was a huge buck that i would want to have mounted..i know my rifle quite well and what it shoots like.. yes,, without question i would..

Ive never taken a head on head shot, always side for some reasion.I would probobly consider a back o the head shot if it looked right.

RE: Head shots?

couple have been head on.. i will try to sit by a log.. then i can use that as a rest.. that way i am usually lower than the deer.. my bullet is traveling at slight angle upwards..put the cross hairson her lips and squeeze off.. i wouldn't recomend these shots to someone who doesn't shoot their rifle more than 1 hr a yearor know deer behavior at these far ranges though.. i also do a lot of practicing on squirrels with a 17hmr.. builds confidence in ones abillity for them shots..
