When does the late rut or second round rut usually start? I am from Western Indiana if that helps. Thanks guys.

Its hard to say. New studies have shown there really isnt a second rut at all. Yes some of the younger does come into heat but the bucks dont do wut they did in late october/november. What part of indiana are you from i live in allen county.

I live in Southern Indiana and this Friday I saw three bucks chasing a doe.

I'm from central indiana, marion county. I go to school in Vigo county though. Do a lot of hunting in Vigo and in Freedom In. Can't wait to get out of school here in a week to catch the last weekend of black powder and late bow season.

Rut (according to Webster) - 1. A cyclically recurring condition of sexual excitement and reproductive activity in male mammals, as deer.
2. A periodic condition of mammalian sexual activity: Estrus.

So, if does, and I don't agree that they have to be young, just simply not pregnant, come into estrus, you have a rut. I think doe follow a 28-day cycle, so you've probably missed it. Probably went by first/second week of Dec.
