The .270 is about as perfect as you can get, unless you want a little more oomph and go with the .30-06.
Not to mention that ammo for the .270 is never in short supply pretty much anywhere you go.

The .270 is a great caliber for deer, and can be used on larger game if you ever get the opportunity.
The .257 Weatherby is expensive to shoot, ammo is hard to find, and most production rifles will realize no advantage over a .25-06.

I promise you the deer or whateverwill not know the difference...Its your money so get what you like. I hunt with what I have listed below and dropped every deer where they stood with the first shot; and it didn't do any more damage to the meatthan a .270. Guns can be an exspensive investment so get what you will be happy with, no need to follow what every one else has. Find something you like.
