to cold to hunt

I would say the -20's is where i call it quits and sometimes i take a little heater with me to sit in this old barn. Don't matter how much clothes you have on or how tough ya are, after -20 you can only sit in the stand so long without having to move. If you keep moving spot and stalking all day it is really not bad at all but i do not think i could ever sit in an unheated stand all day and bowhunt with -20 something bearing down on me.

It was 15 degrees on Saturday morning when we were hunting and it was cold an all, but with the right gear you can handle it no problem. I only have problems with the tips of my toes. I guess I need better socks and boots, but when you're sitting so still right before sunrise it just finds its way in everytime....

I won't let it stop me, but I do have to climb down to warm up once in a while, a short walk does wonders. At the farm I hunt most I have a few permanent stands up (wooden pallets), when I just can't take it anymore I will climb down and walk to another stand, by the time I've climbed into the new stand I'm ready for a few more hours of being still.

I agree with the bowstring idea.If you cant hold a bead on a leaf or a similar small target with your bow back, your too cold, and have to do something to fix it.You dont want to go maming a deer.
