Default Did he poach?

My wife (a teacher) had a 7th gradestudent show her pictures friday of a nice 14 point buck he says he took opening day of rifle season (last wednesday). However she noticed this buck still had some velvet on its antlers...not a lot...but some. I find it extremely odd that this deer would still have velvet. Has anyone ever seen heard of a buck with velvet in Kansas the last week of november? Opinions please...

I shot a deer with my bow on October 7 with velvet still on. I never found it because of the rain but it was 17 yards so I could tell
