Default What gun would you use?

Im a virginia hunter and where I hunt it is shotgun only. I have a marlin 512 slugmaster and shoot federal barnes expander 3inch magnum slugs. I am very confidant with this gun and have taken a few deer with it since I bought it a few years ago, Im going to wv to hunt and visit with my wifes relatives over thanksgiving. My dilemma is should I use my slug gun which I am very confidant with and comfortable or borrow a rifle which has been offered to me if I want to use it. Im thinking to use my gun since that is what Im confidant with. What would you guys do?? In virginia my shots are limited to 125 yards or so and I wouldnt take a longer shot with my slug gun anyway. Any opinions greatly appreciated.. Although typing this I think Ive already answered my own question.. thanks guys geo

If your going to WV to sit on a field that offers 200 yds shots, and you have a good chance to shoot the rifle, the I would consider that. If your in the woods and wont have shots over 125 yds, then your set with what you got. I would make the decision on where I was hunting, AND how much practice I would get with the rifle.

I hunt in a shotgun only county in VA as well. I would hunt with one of my rifles if I could, but I use a slug gun as my closest 2nd choice. I don't like buckshot hunting....

Give Lightfields a try thru your slug gun. My Rem 1100 loves em.

If you can't shoot the rifle, forget it. Too risky. Stick with what you know for sure.

YOU KNOW HOW YOUR SLUG GUNS SHOOTS, THEN USE IT. THE RIFLE MAY BE SET UP FOR SOMEONE ELSE NOT YOU.
