LOL Samp .... our hunting contract states that ALL tags and licenses are included ...CHECK MATE !

dd
Your contract with a guide may have included all hunting lic's and tags for hunting.. You just stated you sent the moneyto Canada Customs for yourregistration permits,, so it didnt include all lic's..It also has nothing to do with a licence to be able to possess a borrowed firearm while in Canada... what you did was illegal if you didnt have a"Non-resident Temporary Firearms Borrowing" lic..

But Ill play Devils advocate a little bit more,, lets say it did cover that cost and you had the Non-resident temporary firearms borrowinglic(which I very highly doubt you had).. How is that guide is going to do any scouting or even push bush,, it clearly states thatYOU must be:[*]hunting under the supervision of an outfitter or other person authorized to organize hunting services in Canada;

Now if this is the case,,, which you say it is.... He had too sitin that truck and watch you all day long,, because you didnt bring your own firearm, and he had too directly watch you with a borrowed firearm! So I would say if this is the case,, which you say it is...He was being a great outfitter by keeping youLEGAL while hunting!

You know Swamp Imnot going to get in a pissing battle with you on herebecause I could really care less about what you think but I will say this...when I arrived in Canada and went through customs they found it odd that I was there for a hunt without a rifle and sent me into the customs office for questioning ...after explaining what had happend the customs officer himself suggested I borrow a rifle from my outfitterand did not advise me to any additionalform needing to be filled out ...now Im done with you

dd

DD,sorry to hear about the bad experience with the outfitter, that sucks.

But I do have to agree with SwampThing that what you did in borrowing the gun and not having the proper forms was illegal. If you would have been stopped and checked, you would have been in a world of trouble. No matter if the customs/immigration official told you nothing about the permit. Like they say, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Anyways, better luck on your next trip!
Dan thank you ..I do not make it a habbit of breaking laws ..I would have NEVER thought that borrowing a rifle from anyone would break a law much less an outfitter ...specally after a customs agent suggested it to me ..no exccuses ...in a lot of towns here in the states its still agenst the law to spit on the sidewalks but we still do ... if I broke the law then I plead guilty as charged ...send down the Canadian Mounties and haul me away ..maybe they will put me in the same cell as the outfitter I used there.

And from the sounds of it, you may see more deer from the cell than in the bush.

LOL Jimmie when I started this theead I never dreamed it would last this long or get this mucj attention ...seem like when the good Doctor makes a post it draws a lot of responce ...good and bad ...but thats what this forum is all about ...discussion.

dd
ya you seem to have a knack for starting very controversial threads.
But this is a discussion forum, and if you start a thread be ready. No telling where it will go. Take it with a grain of salt, and wear your flame suit. Or you wont last.
You know Zrex the sad part about your statement is that your right ... I dont think this forum was set up to be a bashing forum ...sometimes its like Romper Roomor the play ground in elementry school ...I always felt that this was a place to have a little fun but mostly to help to inform our brother hunters...share ideas... to help ...to be of assistance

dd
It should be that way, but we have the 'technical police' that live by the letter of the law as opposed to the spirit of the law. No matter what you say they will always try to make you look bad or feel bad and sometimes call you names[&:]---imagine that! Some people have way too much time on their hands and have never gotten over being picked on in school for being so annoying! They are well up in age and still can't figure out why they don't win any popularity contests!Sorry to hear about your misfortune, and most understand about the gun thing--who'd a thunk it was illegal? Those thatthrow stones just need to sit back and ask themselves why they feel so inclined all the time.

DD,

Thanks for the kind words!

No I don't have a TV show. Is that your criteria for a knowledgeable hunter? Because I've watched quite a few of those shows. And Its rare to see anything remotely resembling what I would call a "good hunter"! I see a lot of rich guys paying a lot of money to hunt in "private" areas or behind fences so that they can Kill a "MONSTER BUCK" to promote their show.

No need to run anything by me. I'm just a dumb ole country boy who has hunted all his life. I believe in hard work, honor, & ethics. (not saying that you don't). I'm sorry if I've come on too strong. I've been in camps with fellars who complained like you done in starting this thread. I've also seen that they where just as much to blame if not more than anyone. There are too many holes in your story. I see too many things that make me say "hummm?" Now, this is from you're own words. Maybe the guide was a prick, Maybe he didn't work hard enough. But, I see instances that some of your bad luck was of your own doing.

And my comment about common sense was directly related to the use of a borrowed weapon in canada. There is a definate lincense that must be applied for to be legal. Now, Maybe you done all the paperwork, or Maybe your guide figured no one would be the wiser. Either way I don't care, But you can't dismiss it as someone bullying you either.

Listen I'm neither Politically correct, nor refrained. I often run off at the mouth when I would be better served putting a cork in it. But, I call an Ace and Ace. I don't mence words. Maybe you're a stand up guy. Maybe, I miss judged you alltogether. I certainly hope so. Because my impressions where certainly not flattering. I apologize for any pain I may have caused you. For those of you who think poorly of me due to my responses on this thread, I am truely ashamed.

Shato when I posted this thread I had no idea that it would be this scrutinized ..there was a lot more to the story but I just touched on a few thing "thus" the holes ..Im sure if I were cross examined I could fill in some of those holes to your satisfaction.

And my comment about common sense was directly related to the use of a borrowed weapon in canada.

My common sence told me that I could not buy a rifle while in Canada being I was from the US however seeing as how I have no common experience in Canada Ito base a commonsence decesion on.

Shato I respect a man that says what he thinks when he takes the time to think it out ...but maybe sometimes the bennifit of the doubt is in oder when you do not have all the facts ...just maybe.

DD, I am wondering what happened to your rifle after your plane switch? Did the airline ship it back to your home for you?
