Default Need some help! Deer Disease or Injury

i recently added a digital camera to my land. I noticed on my buck that he had a large bulge coming from his underside. I was gonna see what yall's take on this is? I missed a large deer last year or so i thought. It might have been this deer and i might have grazed him on his gut and this is the damage i left him with.

Tell me your opinion please. I would like to let this deer grow, but im not sure if this bulge is not dangerous to my deer herd.

i think it is most likely an infected abscess from a flesh wound. Probably a puncture wound from a thorn or something.

Looks like it's just a fatty tumor under his skin if you don't take him out he might still have it next year only larger.

I would go ahead and take him....I would say cull any maimed, lame, or diseased animal......but would take a hard look at what ever that is plus his organs before I ate the meat....I would let my butcher look at him and/or the gut pile before making that deccision.

Most likely a tumor which would not affect the meat. If you did take him and found it unfit for human consumption, I would assume the state game agency would issue you another tag (as long as it's verified by them). I'd call them and get their take on the situation.

I'd leave him. We had a doe like that in our herd for a few years. It was a harmless tumor that caused no threat. The deer appears to be in very good shape.

Other than the fatty puss ball he may have under the skin he appears to be very healthy. He has a nice dark coar hes plenty fat and looks as if hes ready to start rutting. You can what you want. It may be an old injury which appreantly isnt effecting him one bit.

i wouldn't worry about a disease because the deer and most of the others would already be dead. its probably a wound that has gotten infected
