I take advantage of clear cuts and feilds on tree stand @ 25 or 30ft using rifles, but it all depends on were the deer are moving best!

There's no way to answer that question.
What might be good for me can/will be different for you.

It all depends on the layout of your area and the deer sign and deer sightings.

I may be wrong here but I'll bet time spent scouting will answer those questions for you.

what you need to do is go out and scout, HARD! if you are serious about killing a nice buck, there is no better time spent in the woods than scouting. i have killed two big bucks with bow in hand, since '03, both gross over 155! i would not have hunted either of the spots had i not scouted. try to go before a storm or rain, do not touch anything, sneak as if you are stalking and use your glasses often. once you find a hot spot sneak in with your climber and get ready! most big bucks are killed on the first or second time you hunt your spot. both my bucks came on the first hunt. not if, but when you kill you buck email me a pic. good luck, shaner
