Let out a low grunt. You can do it with your own voice or a grunt tube,if they hear it ,they'll stop in their tracks. If they dont stop the first time, grunt a little louder.

I have had to stop several deer that were walking so that I could get a shot. I even stopped one in a dead run. I let out a loud whistle. Never had a deer run from it. The deer do not know what it is and in woods or open area, the whistle will echo and the deer do not know what direction that the noise came from so they will stop and try to determine what it was and where it came from. It has worked for me and never failed, but a grunt call is probably your safest bet.

Well I use either a whistle if they are running or a doe bleat with my mouth when walking or a trot, it has worked for me for years, sometimes though if their running they won't stop no matter what you do. How long do you have? Well not long I never whistle or bleat until they are already in my sights, the second they stop I finish aiming and shoot.

I was just watching a video about this the other day.
They seemed to have the best results when they shot right after the deer stopped. You might even be able to time which of their forlegs will be foreward when he stops. It might help with a bow shot if they are broadside or quartering away .
I would try to shoot as soon as possible, but definitely before he has a chance to make out your outline and focus on you.

I will make a bleat with my mouth or whistle. Both work most of the time but sometimes they won't stop for anything. The most important thing to remember is to be ready to shoot. If you are gun hunting have your gun raised and ready to shoot the instant the animal stops. If you are bowhunting...make sure you are at full draw.....if you are not at full draw you will more than likely get busted.

Let out a good whistle. This as work for me. You need to be aimed and ready to shot before you whistle. They won't stand there very long. A grunt works to, I've never tried to do the bleet I'll have to give it a try sometime.

I have used a grunt call or any odd noise to stop a deer that is not already alerted . but once they start to leave ,most of them won't stop if they have you spotted ,thats been my luck so far with them .
