Guys I started this thread because I have only been married about 5 years and my wife and I butt heads around this time of year. She dont tell me I cant go, but she complains about me going though. She likes to shoot birds and stuff and i have set up my lil Brothers old bow for her, but we have 2 lil girls that are 5 and 1 1/2 old so she cant really go. When she was young her dad and her brother would hunt like 3-4 times the whole season and that was it. So her idea of deer hunting is to only go a few times a year and that is it. I have a feeling she will come around,

My wife as NO issues with me hunting at all. She isn't too crazy about having a mount on the wall if I ever get a buck worthy but she knows and understands why. My wife even buys her licence and goes out with me sometimes. She has never shot a deer but loves to see them and enjoys the outdoors.
I guess I am lucky

I have been married for 13 years and we dated for a few years before that. My wife new how I was well before we got married and still for some reason married me. She does not hunt but will cook it and eat it. She will buy me hunting stuff and lets me get out only about 50 days a year!! She likes me when hunting season is around because I am so happy!! If I get bogged down with work and don't get out I get miserable and she tells me to go hunting!! I have not gotten permission to hang any mounts in her living room but she let me build a 26x20 garage with an office/sportsman den above it that I can do as I will. One big thing that helps is I mostly hunt close to home, and out behind the house so no travel time. She's a keeper!

My wife is generally good at leaving me alone to go about hunting, but reminds me that I have other responsibilities, which I would never forget. I wish she had an interest to hunt, but does not. I promised her that I would put forth great effort to infect my 15 month old daughter with the hunting and shooting bug, and she has the gull to doubt my resolve. She will see!

Mine doesn't mind it too much when I go.

She went with us when I took her son ( my stepson) deer hunting the first time. He got a doe and she got to see him get it. Needless to say she cried and got all upset. While we went to track his deer, the other one that was with it, walked up to her and stood there looking at her.

She doesn't like the idea of killing.

She won't touch a piece of any wildgame, won't even taste it.

She does sorta like the rustic style of all the mounted animals I have, though. That's a plus!

Maybe you should get a baby sitter to stay with the kids for a few hours. When our kids were small, we'd get a "grandma" (not always a real grandma, just an older lady friend whom the kids knew) to watch them while WE went hunting. Sometimes we'd even have her stay overnight so we could leave before daylight - or have the kids stay at her house overnight.
My wife loves to deer hunt, and would still go, except her knees won't take the walking right now.
But I'd think that if your wifelikes to hunt, you could find a way to manage taking her with you.
As far as you guys who married women who hate hunting, guns, etc - that ought to be a warning to the single guys. If hunting means a lot to you, make sure the gal you marry enjoys it too. This goes for a lot of other things, too. If more guys would use their brains half as much as they use their hormones when looking for a mate, there'd be a whole lot less alimony payments going on .

Well the grand parents are the ones who keep my girls while we are at work, so when the weekend comes the grandparents are worn out from the week of watching them.. But its all good though, I still have my time in the woods and she does get to go every now and then, she just dont quite understand sometimes...
