Exoman. i can respect your fabrication skills. you do great work!
I to am a fabricating junkie and play with the tig and mig welder at times.
i know how much time and effort goes into it and the sence of accomplishment you get in the end. I know peolpe will say why take the time to do this when you can buy one and be done with it but i say if you got the skills and you really enjoy it then then dont hold back. i make most of ours (ladder type and hang on)but have bought a few. here is a pic of one i just finished. you hang a bracket first then hang the stand on the bracket. got it hanging at home airing out right now. Very nice work, I love the size of the platform.
I have to agree with wis bow hunter, regarding the angle of the ladder.
I would add a loop on each back edgeof the platform to attach aratchet strap around the tree.
Again,nicework

If you look close you can see in the pics they are not perfect 90's it only takes a little bit of an angle to make that ladder come out alot to make it nice to climb. And as you and Dan both know its amazing what a man can do with just a welder, tourch, and grinder! When you have those three things its endless what you can do! ALso good job to both of you!

I built my own climbing sticks but I learned to put a small plate on the bottom to keep it from sinking into the ground. I have a bunch of aluminum tubing I am gong to build stand with. Should be nice and light.

Very nice....are you going to paint them so they don't rust and stain everything red/orange when you rubagainstthem?

cool stand dan!

yeah i do automotive fabrication mainly, so tree stands are a refreshing change. Although you are still pretty much going thru the same movements that you would for ladder bars and tube frame chassis :)
