back when i lived in adk of ny and had a live in g/f, i did once. had a huge fight i grabed my stuff and headed out around midday, had a ground blind that i used, so i pitched up in there and camped out for 4 days, had my whisperlite and a few nalgene;s of water so i was set, it was rather fun, ate ramen noodles and did lots of hiking, had a few shots at some spikes and a forkhorn but i let them slide,

I have slept in a tree when I used to be part of a recreational tree climbing group. They use special equipment though.. a hammock designed for it, and always stay tied into a rope. I also used to be a professional tree surgeon, and occasionally will climb a tree when hunting. If I had the right gear I think I would spend the night in the tree and hunt from there when the sun came up.. that way you would not have to get up so dang early..

I too have dosed off in the stand a couple of times. I try not to do it regularly but I look at is as I have a better chance dosing off in the woods than sleeping in at home.

Another thing I done was put my deer cam out at the spot I was going to hunt a couple days early and was to meet up with some hunting partners. I got there about 45 minutes before daylight and fell asleep as I waited on them. They never showed up. I woke up about an hour fter daylight and went to my stand. when I got down I checked my camera and the roll was full. I went and got the pic's developed and had hogs all around my stand why I wasn't there. LOL

My son and I built a wooden stand in a large oak tree. It was big enough for both of us to bed down for the night very comfortably. It looked kind of like a crow's nest on a ship's mast with a ladder up the tree and a floor hatch to enter the stand. We even had a waterproof roof on it and a 3 ft. wall all around. Just perfect for sitting in a lawn chair and using the wall for a gun rest. Many times during the '90's I spent the night up there. We shot many deer, turkey, coyote, and squirrel from up there. In 1999 lightening struck a nearby tree and the tree fell onto our crow's nest and pretty much destroyed it. Don't know if we'll ever fix it up again. I'm getting too old and my son is off to another town doing the hubby and daddy thing. Some of my very best hunting memories were made up there.

The Tree Lounge, Doc's Recliner or BuckShot stands can be slept in without falling out. I don't know about all night though.
It would be dangerous to do so in cold weather because of exposure.
You might never wake up again!

Joel5..I dont know..I think it would be more sad if Elsie never had those memories to start with. Good for you for hunting with your boy, Elsie! I'm doing the same with my boy (he's 6 so we're just getting started). I'm looking forward to many years of being in the outdoors with him, but I also know it will have end sometime. I hope I do as well as you did
