Theres a couple things to keep in mind when purchasing a new gun, main factor being fit. Try out some different guns in the models youre looking at find one that fits you perfect. Also another thing to keep in mind is what kind of terrain are you going to be hunting, whats your longest shot going to be? Bein i live onely a few miles from you Ironic aint it,I know pretty much all of our area. I live no more than 10 minutes from you. South of Neillsville. If youre hunting our area and are hunting heavy woods id say the 30-06 would suit your needs just fine. If youre going to be shooting across any open fields id say .270 or .308 would be more than enough in our area.

that is pretty weird that we are so close in distance. do u see any bears around cuz ive been seeing a lot and does a .270 have bear take down power. pretty much the longest shot i could take here in hatfield is like 50 yards or so but i also do some hunting down in southwestern wisconsin over some corn fields and such. is a .270 a pretty flat shooting cartridge?

I have the model 710 30-06 and i love mine and would recommend it to anyone as for cal. i think for deer it comes down to your own descision. i think all the 710 cal. are great and am thinking about getting the .270 or .300 sometime soon. Not because i want to set the 30-06 aside but just because i like to use differnt guns at different times. and lets face it you can never have too many.
