how long should I hunt?
Last season, I had three separate areas that were loaded with buck sign. Fresh scrapes, fresh rubs, and fresh scat. However, when I hunted these areas, I never saw a buck, only a few does. I typically hunted two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. When I watch deer hunting videos, many of the hunters speak of hunting "all day". Has anyone actually done this and been successful?

Try hunting mid day you might be surprised. One of the biggest 12 point bucks I'ld ever seen came into my stand at about 1300 hr acouple years ago. I couldn't get a shot though whaa! whaa! I hunt when ever I can get a chance. Good luck.

Sounds like a good spot to me. Im in my stand before daylight and sit untill I can't see anymore...I've done this for years! It works...but it's tough on the "mind" too sit all day. I can't remember the last time I didn't take a buck buy sitting and sitting and sitting...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hunt all day if you can. If you can't sit all day start out by hunting until 11:00 and then tell yourself to wait 30 more minutes. You will see more deer, and then you will be excited about hunting through the middle of the day into the evening. CHANCES ARE YOU WILL GET ONE BEFORE EVENING EVER COMES. Every minute you are on the stand is a minute closer to harvesting a good buck.
Many people tell me they only see deer early in the morning and late in the evening. That is because that is the only time they hunt. Other than daybreak and sunset, I see most of my deer after 10:00. That is when most hunters leave the woods. I sat in the rain this weekend and didn't see a deer until 11:00 and it was a buck just getting out of bed. The deer you do see in the middle of the day are usually good ones too.
Try it you won't be disappointed.

If you want that big boy, hunt all day. You never know when he will walk in , but if there is signs all over the place, I would be camping out all day for sure to see whats making those signs. Everyone that I know who hunts all day are way more successful, and they can prove it with some nice wall mounters. Makes sense. All day brother!
