What is the best topo software program? I tried google earth last night and it wouldn't run in direct x mode. So it was very slow and I couldn't see very good detail. What about the National geographic topos? Are the any good? I would like something fast and user friendly.

I use Delorme Topo software for my hunting. Probably not the easiest at first but it's not to difficult. You can mark area's with flags or remarks and you can also download aerial photos from Delorme (w/ a subscription).

If you don't mind it being online and not an application for your PC, try www.topozone.com.

Check out TerraSwever USA http://terraserver-usa.com/ You can use address, lat / longs, or just drill down using the map. Once you get to the map, you can drill down more, scroll right/left/up/downand switch between topo and aerial photos.
