California deer season starts in two weeks!!!!! It will be my first time huting for deer here. Im not expecting much but any time hunting is better than not....... Ill be in Central Cal any tips???? Should be really hot out...
I hunt Minn. in Nov. im not used to hunting hot temps....

I'm a Southeren Cali hunter. Unfortunately my season doesn't start until Sept. 2nd, but it's way too hot anyway! I personally haven't had a problem finding deer around here.Just look for food, water and cover.

Hermbo, have you scouted at all ?don't start out with a negative attitude, we have a lot of deer and central ca should be good during archery season. we're going up to Mendacino Nat forest for 5 days and then hunt San Diego county later this fall. I came from upstate NY and thought how could anybody hunt in this heat, but I now hunt constantly, don't forget the pig'sthey are even more fun than deer, good luck

ahh i swear, people these days are so brain death that they have lost their sense of humor! And im not a treehugger, bunny hugger nor a hippie. I am a granola bar eater tho. Those take the nip off the hunger when your watching a field. I was simply joking about not shooting the california deer. i mean come on, you're hunting in a state that is filled the bunny huggers so i thought i'd takea poke at it .. Guess noone these days has a sense of humor? So are you going after blacktail deer? Ive always read that hunting blacktail deer in cali should be around apple trees or good food areas like corn, wheat fields. Good luck anyways and keep us updated on how the hunt goes.

Im sorry for the name calling but in Cali it is hard enough to hunt!!! I thought you were trying to mock hunting in Cali..... I hut pigs all the time but this is the first time deer hunting...So you say apples work??? Ill look in to the baiting laws as i will have some time before my hunt to look around. So in regards to to my previous statements i am sorry!!!!!

Nope, wasnt mocking cali hunting. Ive seen some blacktail deer hunts on tv that took place in cali and it looked fun. Seeing how we havnt had much rain lately i'd look for areas witha good amount of water and tracks in the dirt. I have no clue what the blacktail habitat is like but every animal likes to eat easy food and water thats close by.
