Ok I know it sounds alittle odd but while in the service I was roommates with a guy from W.V. who said that a pair of nylons under your thermals keeps you real toasty. I never tried it but having a conversation with another hunter, he mentioned that you dont want any cotton touching your skin. and that I should be looking into some polypropalyn underware. well, there costly but it made me remember the nylon thing. so I was curious if anyone has or knows of someone who has tried it. Im sure you might hear a few comments back at the lodge.

I myself have never tried it but acouple of my friends have. They told me that it worked fairly well. they did this about 20+ years ago I believe they finally changed to something different. If nothing else it will bring out your feminine side ha ha.

Sorry blacky, but nylons will never work. With your hunting buddies laughing so hard, its bound to scare the deer away.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
As for keeping you warm, I have no idea. But if I was you, I would spend the extra money for the polypropalene.

I have used knee high nylons under my socks to fight blisters. I was always well pleased.
Silk is excelent but I've never used it but know many that have and they swear by it.
I prefer and hughly recommend polypropelyene; I have several pair of lite and one pair of expedition weignt. You can't go wrong on it.

i wear polypropalynes...if the military uses tehm they must be about the best!...i wore them to bed the night before deer season up a friends camp and i broke a sweat and had to go back to the freeaing shorts...dont wear them if you will be moving alot either...i wore them bird hunting one day it was freezing under a pair of insulated pants that arent all that warm and i was sweating bad...for stand hunting they are hard to beat i loved them...i need to fund another pair i grew since i wore them...they were great....i duno about the nylons though...at the deer camp we goto i would never be caught dead in them though!

they work, but if you go to a sporting goods store you can get tights for sports. They are not exactly nylons and not exactly polypropalynes. I wore them in football, and they definitely give you a good thin layer of protection. They don't do anything for wind though. Also, you won't get near as many laughs at these as you will nylons. Any good sporting goods store will have them.
