I have used knee high nylons under my socks to fight blisters. I was always well pleased.

Silk is excelent but I've never used it but know many that have and they swear by it.

I prefer and hughly recommend polypropelyene; I have several pair of lite and one pair of expedition weignt. You can't go wrong on it.
