What cal./rifle do y'all use for deer. I use a Hawkens .50 cal muzzleloader with 100 grains of black powder. Ive always wanted to hunt deer with a 30-30 (one of my favorite rounds), but I do most of my hunting in RI and its illegal to hunt with center-fire rifles (go figure), but when I get my 7.7mm Jap up and shootin, I'll hopefully use it to hunt deer here in CT next year or somethin

Well I always get the job done in archery season but if I pick up a gun in rifle season rather than take my bow it is a Remington BDL .270

30.06, .45/.50 ML, or H&R Heavy Barrel .20. Like an earlier post mentioned, usually bow is all that is needed.

I use everything except a rifle. I mainly bow hunt, but I use a slug gun quite a bit too. Looking at getting a TC Encore this year for the 12 ga, and .50 Cal capabilities.

well like rob i use my pse bow ., but when we do go during the gun season i use my t/c muzzleloader 50 cal. and my daughter uses .243 bolt.,that weekend or 9 days this year goes all for her,. i just have my t/c/ loaded just in case.,;)oh and does anybody have anygood tree stand plans., i want to build her a inclosed stand but dont know what to start with.,thanks .,

2004 bowtech Mighty Might with 2213 easton arrows, H&R Ultra slug in 12 ga not sure about the ammo yet still haven't made up my mind, and a remington 700 ML inline with 90 grns of fffg 777 and a precision rifle bullet in 350 grns. I'm switching back to cleanshot/pioneer though.

If I could hunt with a centerfire I would probably have a H&R or savage in .243.

My favorite deer gun is a .54 caliber inline with a patched round ball , I also sometimes use a .50 caliber inline with sabots .

Martin Cougar Mag Bow to start things off but I spend a lot of time hunting with a smokepole as well- this year I'll be giving the new Savage 10II 50 cal. a go. I also use a CF which is a custom 700BDL LH action chambered in 7mm rem mag. Have a few back ups as well.

My primary deer rifles are a pair of customs built on stainless 700 actions with match grade barrels,pillar bedded into mcmillan stocks.Both are chambered in 7mmstw,andwear 3x10x42 swarovski scopes.

It all depends I use my Bear/Jennings Bow, My good ole trusty
12 guage Ithica M66 Supersingle, or a 30-30 Marlin

I have to begin saying the only way for me to start my deer season right is to put a Gold Tip XT through the lungs ofa white tail with my beloved Mathews LX.

Then...

We can't use rifles here but the first thing I grab during firearms season is my Encore ML with Hornady L-N-L sabot and 150 grains worth of Pyrodex pellets. The second thing I grab is my ole Model 1300 Winchester 12 Guage with Winchester Partition Gold slugs.

I usually go to Eastern Kentucky hunting White tail every year and then I bring two rifles. Winchester Model 70 300 Win mag with some 150 grain ballistic silvertips that I load, and my 2nd rifle is a good old Winchester Model 94 30-30.

And during all of these except Bow Season, I'll have my trusty Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 on my side ready to go to work!

For gun season I use a Savage 110 (Left-hand) in 30-06. I'm not that happy with the quality of mySavage, but nobody else makes a reasonably priced left-hand bolt action. I'm definately upgrading after college when I have more money.

My youngest son and I have gotmy safe open as I write this. We have been trying to decide what we are going to hunt with this year. My son wants to hunt with my Marlin 336 30/30 on our place here and use his Encore 270 when he gets to hunt our place in Oklahoma for the first time this year. I will be taking my Knight Disc 50 cal. to Oklahoma this October, and IF I don't connect during ML season, I will be taking my Blaser300 WSM during rifle season. I am not an avid archery hunter, but I will be taking my Diamond bow out at least a couple of times to try for a doe or two on our place here in Texas. During rifle season, I am planning to get some blood on my Armalite AR-10, but my Marlin 336 is my primary truck/ATV gun and will more than likely see the most action. I usually hunt with my Knight ML at least a few times here even though there is no season to take advantage of in east Texas.
