I only try to shoot does when I want more deer meat or when I use my longbow. It is more respectful to shoot bucks, I guess thats due to the way I was raised.

I take a doe at the beginning of season for my farmer then wait for a trophy buck.

Buck because that is all that could be taken when I first started to hunt here in VT. Does are allowed now on a limited basis during bow season and with a permit for ML season. When I first hunted the buck doe ratio was really wide because there wasn't any doe harvest. You got used to watching a couple dozen does pass by waiting for your buck. I guess it just kind of set in that way. The only does I have taken were with a bow.

Doe meat is better, the bucks meat is more stringy and clogs up the grinder a lot more.

i guess if u take management out of the picture i would shoot a buck.
but sometimes a have to take all does cause i try to maintain a 2/1 ratio

i like a nice fat doe to fill the freezer
