I prefer to shoot bucks but I haven't in three years ever since I set my standards high. If I am not willing to mount it I let it pass. I have let a lot of 150-170 class deer walk trying to get a monster buck that I have seen.I have shot a lot of does over the lasr few years because IA is trying to thinn the hears and letting you shoot a lot of does. I have a farm that I huntand thelandowner likes me to shoot does.

I'm not doubting anyone who can make 344 post in 2 weeks but if your letting alot of 170 class bucks walk you have alot of stay power. I have a couple in the 170's and will shoot any other one I see. The racks are just to nice at that size for me to let walk.

Depends on the areas deer pop and the size, I dont have the >if it is brown its down attitude< I cant believe some would just shoot the first deer that steps out.

The county I live in is designated a "reduction county"due to overpopulation allowing me to take up to 8 antlerless deer , we only get one buck period , and I'm a meat only hunter . Not hard to figure out what I voted .

If I can see any deer while hunting, I'll take a doe first.

Shoot young does for the freezer and only shoot bucks if they are eight points or more and appear to be at least two years old.

Both taste good and will fill the frezer. If I see a good buck then duhhhhhh of course I'd take it over the doe next to him. But if she is all I see her new name is Dinner.

I prefer to shoot does but I have been hunting close to 50 years and have lived in some excellent deer hunting states and have shot a lot of big bucks. Normally I try to help the people I hunt with to get their deer first. If they actually hit a deer and not get it, then I will follow up in that area to track the deer down.
