Default quick question from an archery hunter

I bought a 7mm mag for a tax present to myself. It came with a 3-9X40 simmons on it. The scope was fine but my brother gave me a busnell 3-9X50 that i liked better. Anyways The scope rings were the same size so I switched scopes. Now here is the problem, with the 50mm objective lenz I ONLY have enough room to fit a piece of paper folded in half. Is this ok? Im afraid to shoot my rifle because I dont want to breake the lenz in my scope. Is this possible? please reply soon

I would think that would be fine. Are you thinking that your barrell will hit the scope?

If it is that close than you should probably get different mounts just so you can put your covers on when not in use. I like the tall rings so if i want to use my gun sights i can. Sometimes when an deer is real close a scope can be a pain. If you have the tall rings you can use you gun sights on those close up shots.
