Florida Has Become an Innovation State

I've seen hunters on other forums whining that there is no where to hunt in FL and that all the land is tied up with leases. I have also seen guys post their biggest FL deer pictures on that forum and I would not even shoot a deer that small. I am sure there are a few nice ones there but FL's claim to fame will always be the fishing and not the hunting.

Sorry, I have heard other guys claiming no where to hunt while living there and they turn into fisherman. Turkeys and wild hogs have always been talked about in FL as a great spot. I am spoiled with the hunting here in IA I guess.

Looks like you have lots of places to hunt there! Hell them guys whining on that other forum need to wake up and smell the coffee. I go to FL regularly for Daytona Bike week and I love it there. We usually do Daytona for a couple of days and then head down to the keys and hang out. I had a buddy that owned a Sea Tow business out of Islamorada until last year and we would hang out with him and fish and drink. He even complained about no hunting in FL and would come up here every year and deer hunt.

I didn't know florida had any animals???I went to biketoberfest in 2004 in daytona..Anyway on my drive down thru the state to daytona I didn't see a single animal at all to or from that place...got to florida around dusk and left in the morning the following week...Not one critter...I did see pelicans and seagulls on the beach though and that was my wildlife scenery for florida...Other than a 4 foot gator in an aquarium.... OH...it's got animals ok. Fish in any decent sized lake and you will find gators and snakes. I hunt in the Green Swamp and it is a little nerve wracking and common to be surrounded by bellowing bull gators while your in your turkey blind. Then...ya have to keep your eye open for the small slithering Pigmy rattlers. I video taped one striking at my boot. If it wasn't for my faith in God I would not even hunt in there. I generally go in the swamp about 1 1/2 to 2 miles. The scariest wildlife is the other hunters. so I try to get well away from them. Hogs are big here as well and can turn on ya. I've had them snort at me before while i was in my stand. { Not a normal snort, an I'm going to rip you apart snort}They have an awesome sense of smell. You learn to tack your trail up real good. You certainly don't want to get lost. Mosquitoes are there almost during the entire hunting season. They love to keep ya company as well. It's my only place I have to hunt at in Florida so I make the best of it. I've only hunted there 4 years. So far I've only bagged one spike buck , one average hog and 16 squirrrels.

hardcorehunter,
I would have to question any forum in which folks visit to say that Florida has "no good places to hunt" and whatnot. Pure pooh. Garbage. Lies. Absurd. tim Tebow.
hardcorehunter, when you visit Florida, you visit for one reason - to pursue the elusive whitetail. Sure, some folks visit for beaches and fun in the sun and stuff like that and that is fine. HOWEVER, if you want to pursue wild game and pursue it in the land where the Good Creator spent a majority of His creation time, then the fact is that you do it in Florida.
Again, guys, Florida is not some sort of second rate, litter infested biohell we see in New York or New Jersey or wherever. This is a pristine state with the whitetail health on the up and up. Antler growth sky rocketing, no CWD, and a unity among Southern hunters that is not found anywhere else in the country.
Basically, I have other Florida hunters angry with me b/c they feel I am letting out the secret. Afraid folks will come down here and take up residence when they realize the caliber of whitetail found down here. That is just the facts, guys.
hardcorehunter, I hope you go back to that poohey forum and demand respect. One of two things: 1) those guys are lying about their experience in hunting the state of Florida, or 2) those guys are Yankees and hardly know how to hunt.
Hope all of you get the chance to get in the woods with close friends/family some time this weekend!
