All states implement a hunter safety program required for first time hunters. Each state has their own requirements, but I can assure you that he will be required to take a hunters ed. program and if you do not have proof of a previous license regardless of your age, you will be required to take a class also or sign an afidavit stateing that you have previously had a license and then you are grandfathered in. Call the Ark. state fish /game for state regs. to get the facts.

I'm not sure about in the States, but up here in AB. You either take the course or challenge the test. I took the tse and got 98% so I got to hunt last year! (my fist year at 14)

Ark. does require hunters education. I live in Iowa, completed my hunters edc in Missoiuri while going to college. Most states will accept hunters edc from other states. Might want to check 1st.

I believe there are only two states that do not require this. Myself living in Minnesota I know you do not need one and I am not sure of the other state that does not require this. Thats whats cool about living here. That sucks for the other states. I know I have to take a hunters education coarse for next year when I hunt in North Dakota for geese and duck, but I heard it was very simple.

Deer education is not difficult but I believe very helpful. I suggestion I have is for hunters to take the class in the area that they hunt. Example, I took my class in Missouri but hunt in Iowa. The class spent an unbelievable amount of time on rifle safety etc. In iowa we are not allowed to use rifles. Of course some of the gun safety info to all but most of it wasn't.

Also there are many different laws in different states that should be explained in specific hunter safety classes.
