RE: Typical vs. Nontypical what is the difference?
I'm no expert scorer, but to me it would seem hard to measure the spread on a deer that had antlers growing downward, so it should be a non-typical.???

Typical means all of the tines are growing off the top of the main beam. I beleive some kickers are allowed in a typical score but they are deductions. If the deer has droptines, symetrical or not it is considered a non-typical.

RE: Typical vs. Nontypical what is the difference?
I have read some of the boone and crockett rules, and I believe that the rules for typical or non-typical have to do with how the deer is scored... Meaning that there are 2 differnet methods for scoring and it has to do with what is subtracted and what isn't. Somethings might be subtracted if you choose to score the deer as typical, where as it may not if it was scored as non-typical... I was looking at the site and there is no definition other then 2 differnt methods of scoring... Check it out, http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgReco...area=bgRecords
I could be wrong but that was my take on it....
