Default Big Buck ..Broken Rack ..What To Do?

I was wondering ...if you were lucky enough to shoot a monster buck ..lets say its 150 B&C or larger ...and when you got to the buck you realized he had a couple of broken off tines and maybe the main beam has a couple of inches missing .. would you fix it when you were having it mounted or leave it like it was whenyou shot him ... and why?

I would leave it the way it was. I don't think many people get things fixed that were broken before they saw the deer. I could see if a point broke off if it hit a tree when crashing or some thing but that is different. To me that is like telling your taxidermist to add a few inches to a fish you caught. It isn't the fish you caught and it isn't the deer you shot.

Leave it the way it was, that's how he died and thats how he'll stay.

I think its disrespectful to the animal to modifyit's rack after you shoot it.

I agree. If you're going to "repair" a rack, why not add a few points while you're at it? I'd never do that, but I wouldn't be offended if I was looking at someone's mount, and they said that they had fixed it. It's your deer, do whatcha wanna do.

I would leave it, he didn't have that horn when I shot him, so he shouldn't when I mount em'.

I want to remember it the way it was when I took it. If I wanted a
built rack it would defeat the purpose of hunting. The only way I would have a rack repaired was if i shot a deer and it ran into a tree and broke a tine off and it was recovered. No inches added just repaired.
