Default Last day - last doe

Another deer season ended for me and I got a doe fawn on the last trip.

Third drive of the day. Thick clouds, no wind, 6 inches of snow, temperatures circling around freeezing point. My brothers SGP barked away with a deer in a reed laden alder area. Then nothing was heard until I noticed a shade in the far edge of my vision behind me. A single deer stopped, not ten yards from me but on the wrong side of the land border. It stopped and listened to my brother, who at the time was investigating if the dog would listen to some new names he came up with as the dog would not return to him.

Then the deer turned and went straight at the direction of my yelling brother. It took both barrels at 30 yardsbut still got into a windfall where it stayed until the hound caught up with it.
The season ended with a bang.

By the way. How do you like our long tailed SGPs?

Many thanks!Yes we have fallow deer and red deer as well but none of them where I hunt. This is a female roe deer born 2005 in may-june. White tails were introduced into Finland 1934 and every now and then rumour has that one comes into Sweden but thats about it.

Ill tell my brother to praise the dog!

3D, I should have known that was a roe by its size!!! I am hoping to make it to europe in the next year or two to do some roe stalking, but it is so privatised in England it is difficult to find a place to hunt!
