RE: 300 win mag

I shoot each year, most of the time it only takes one shot, just to see if my gun is still holding a zero.
So I guess that we can assume that you can put every singleshot throught the same hole, otherwise a single shot will not tell you if the gun is zeroed.Thatwould bean amazing gun and you musthave great shootingtalent for never practising.

I don't have to waste a whole box of 30 dollar ammo just to see if I can hit a target.
No but unlike you,us mere mortals can't put every shot through the same hole so we have to practise to develop and maintain our shooting skills.Unlike you we have enough respect for the game that we hunt to make the extra effort to ensure that our gun is properly sighted in and to practise regularlyso that our skills are adequate to provide quick clean kills every time.I would rather "waste" that extra ammunition rather than see a wounded animal suffer.
Maybe you should think about your own ethics before telling other people what they do or do not need.Yourusername indicates that you are a student, hopefully you will eventually learn something.

I went fishing and caught a big one, your replies answer all my questions.
You only shoot your gun 1 rd per year before going into the woods! I am glad you don't hunt around me. I shoot around 1200 rds a yr except for 2003 when I spent most of the timesouth of bagdad. I leave for Bagram Afganistan in may and hope to be back in time toget ready for the 2006 season. Shooting 1 rd per year does not make a person proficient with a weapon PRACTICE!

why practice something that your already good at? honestly answer me that question without being a smart ass. If I shoot my gun at its off the paper somehow then I'll tend to it like I should, but if its still 3 high at 100 yards, whats the point. I've never missed, I guess I should practice more. And practice is spelled with two "c"s.

Ok ok, I'll play along. to the guy that started this thread, if your going to hunt bigger game than deer, then get a 300. Make sure, even though your proficient with the gun, haven't bumped the sights and know for a fact after one-two shots that its still sighted in, still buy about 300 bucks of ammo, because if you have 300 bucks, the only correct thing to do would be to blow it all and then shoot all day. making sure that your point of impact on the paper stays the same. Even after the first box of shells, keep on shooting because its only the right way to do things, the gun may mysteriously change over night, so the next day do the same thing.

In America practice is spelled the correct way. Even Chuck Norris says so.
