Does BIG scrapes mean BIG buck?
#11
Personally I think the best method of a big buck is visual and most of the time that is incorrect unless you have a picture on your camera. Even that could be misleading. My buddy killed a buck and I easily put it in the 140's and it was no where close. Typical 117 non typical 127. I went home after he had it scored and was like hell I need to work on my "off the top of my head" scoring!

i voted no to this because many bucks will use the same scrape and they will alot of time freshen the dirt up themselves over and over which can make a scrape become very large in size but mabe none of the bucks are very big at all the scrapes just used a lot.

big scrapes have more than one buck using them, I've seen scrapes that are 5-7 feet across.... no kidding. I have watched spike bucks stand on their back legs to be tall enough to scent up the tall rubs and licks.

I got to see scraping action in person for the first time this year. Two
separate times I had a buck come in and make big scrapes right before
my eyes. He was a small 8 point that I say is a 2 1/2 year old. So I
voted no.

Just looked over the post and relized the topic and what i wrote. Sorry I mixed em up[&o] Thats what I get when I stay up after thirds and write on the computer. As far as ground scrapes go I have never got to see a deer worka establised oneso I don't know if you can tell size of scrape by size of deer, but I have seen deer small and big make small ones that don't get used alot. but as someone else said earlier I do have one scrape that gets worked over every year and its about four or five feet in diameter. I try not to hunt to close to them as to not screw up my hunt.
