I am going to get one soon and I will use corn. I am doing this to also see whats there but I have to wait until after the season because its on public land. I will probably start just after the 4th of july so I can get the deer in the habit of coming through my area. I might try something to benefit a bucks antler growth earlier than the foruth what do you guys think.

One on One - Why will the deer movement in that area be low in the day?

Yeah, I am just using the cam to see whats around, not to monitor movment.

Corn works fine, however it will attract other creatures....

RE: Attracting deer for cams?

agaucher, every year i put out alot ofcorn in feeders and pour it on the ground, usually start around mid july. out of all my pic.(several hundred), only about two dozen have been during daylight, usually get around 10 to 15 pica night, once the deer have located the corn, this is over the course of two or three month.the deer pic i have got are usually does, yearlys and two small bucks(only got them once). the big boys like i posted earlier, never ever have i got them in daylight.now a hundred yards or so i've got day pic off of trails. maybe just in my area. give it a try.hope this helps.

One on One, are you on public or private land?
Human pressures may have something to do with the amount of nocturnal vs daylight movement of your deer herd.

i think you did say you were on a lease... do other hunters use it as well?

i have 250 acre leased, me and one other guy, that hunts about 6 times a year.the hunting pressure in the surrounding area is low. this happens even on some land i can hunt with no hunting pressure, except me usually only hunt it the last of huntin season.

I know around here as soon as the snow flies it is cedar that brings them in. I have grain, cedar and alfalfa hay out. I got a camera last night and I hope it works!

Cedar?

I have had the corn, oat, and barley mix out for a few days, and they have yet to touch it. Not any tracks, nothing.

None of these grow around here naturally... any tips why they aint eatin it, or how to get them too?

Thanks again
