I noticed in your im sick post that you put your sons friend in a tripod stand. I have an area in a corn feild that is low lying and stays wet so the farmer plants arount it every year. It's about thirty feet wide and seventy feet long and about fifty yards from the closest woods so its just out of bow range. To get to the question, do deer notice you when you are sitting way up their in the open. I always try to pick trees that offer alot of back cover as to not get spoted. When the feild has corn in it that spot is l ike the holiday in express. Just curious what you or others have had happen in those kind of stands. I don't think their are any night crawlers in the wet spot so it should be safe for the local kids, LOL

Hot we use a number of triopod stands ...we normally fix a tent blind to them to try and conceal the hunter any movement, helps cut down on the scent andkeeps you out of the weather...try and situate it in an area where it wont be skylined and it will work well for you it has for us.

I have a tripod stand that is in fairly plain sight and I haven't had a problem with deer spotting me in it yet.

after the stand has been there for a long time the deer will never even look up at it unless they here a noise or see movment up there.

We also have several out in wide open fields. Like DoctorDeath we use blinds with ours. After a week or 2 the deer don't even pay them any attention. They walk right by ours without a look.
