But, if you are aiming up and miss, you may hit the tree hugger who has chained himself to that oldgrowth yellow pine. Yeah that sucks. I would talk to the guy at least. Explain to him why you were upset and see how he reacts. If he is honestly, truely sorry, maybe you can give him a second chance. But that is your call.

I already know when I go hunting that I'm not going to leave a wounded animal in the woods. But as Hank Williams would say, "I'm just a poor sinner." BUT, I just called a DNR hotline. The desk jockey that i spoke with seems to think that it is legal to use a handlight or headlight to track a deer after dark. She was unclear, though, about how it can legally be dispatched once you find it. I was a little vague in my discussion, so inow have a very suspicious DNR agent who promises to get back to me. That my mean a knock on the door at midnight. The things that i do for you people... |

The guy is 34 but has only killed one doe. Kinda sounds to me like an unskilled, inexperienced hunter.Maybe, just maybe, you overestimated his abilities. I've seen some some guys that have been hunting for years that still don't know their butt from a hole in the ground. Maybe this guy is an irresponsible jerk but maybe he just needs a good mentor. You obviously didnt think he was a jerk when you put him on your stand.
You did say he was ready to give up on the bloodtrail and thats a bad thing but he did stay with it at your urging. You didnt mention anything else that would indicate a lack of respect for his quarry . Maybe being silent wasnt the best thing. Tell him that you're not happy and why. His reaction to that will tell youwhether this guy is a true butthole or a good sportsman in the rough that needs a lot more polishing. |

I appreciate the effort, but I'm not really questioning the legality of the issue because I already know. Don't go through the trouble. Thanks. But after stoking up game wardens, I may be spending the next 30 days on a bunk nestled between Bubba and Tyrone ina prison cell bunk instead of hanging out in a hunting camp.
