Deffinately a nice spike with good mass. He does look older with a long nose like that.

I've seen one like that, except a lot bigger. Spikes about 24in. and probably weighed about 1000lbs. Oh shoot that was a cow, never mind.

That's a nice spike. How long were your spikes? I killed one this year that was very similar except mine curled back like a goats...they were 12 in. and I plan on making a European mount out of mine.

What did his teeth look like. For me, that is the easiest way to age a deer.

ORIGINAL: texas8point
....he had some gray spots down his back so i think he was an older buck........pretty cool i think

I killed an 8" spike this year...but nothing like that. My personal feeling is that if they are long and curved around, they are destined to be small racked bucks at best.

We killed one that was 13" about 15 years ago. It looked like yours.

Congrats!

I killed one with 11" spikes in 2000 but it was a young deer...probably a bad move. I think he woulda been a dandy. That is a fine spike though...I woulda shot it as well. It looks to be an older deer.
