Do you butcher your own deer

RE: Do you butcher your own deer
i use to butcher my own, but i recently started having it done. my taxidermist just started processing game so i have been taking it to him. it kinda spoiled me, am i getting too lazy? part of the reason i started getting it done is because i moved into the city limits for the first time in my life. i have no place (out of sight) to clean and butcher my deer at my new house. i don't wanna freak my neighbors out.

Always have and always will. Although cleaning isn't the funnest thing...I like to know exactly what is going into my meat. This way I know, plus the fact that I'm saving between 40-60 bucks makes me happy.

RE: Do you butcher your own deer
I used to pay to process mydeer untill one year i got my deer back and the meat tasted like it was rotten. I get my whole deer done into burger since that is what we use the most of. Found out through the grapevine that the local buthcher does all his deer on one day of the week which i knew about but didn't know that he does five at a time. All deer burger gets ground up at once in the main "pile" People say he cant do one deer ata time and still make money. Now this year was my first year to do my own and it was quite fun and interesting. For you guys that want video's I got one from WWW.LEMPRODUCTS.COM and it is great. If your smart enough to shoot a deer you should be able to do it from this video. The only mistake I made this first time was letting it age without the hide on it, had to trim away some "dry" meat, but its the best deer i have ever cooked!
