I just want everybody's opinion on what the best slug gun aviable is for $300-$350. I would like camo, but it is not a necessity. I'm leaning hard on an 870 with rifled barrel.

can't go wrong with an 870. i myself have a Mossberg 835 with a rifled barrel and it's a tack driver with 3" lightfield commanders. threw a recoil pad on the stock and now i have no problem following through with my shots through the scope. good luck shopping and hope you kill a slob this year

Remington 870 Magnum Express....12 gauge. HO HO HO!

The 870 is a very dependable gun.I am not fussy about the synthetic trigger guard on the 870 express,but they do seem to work well.

xenia sez.... Dick's had 870 synthetic w/ rifled barrel and cantilever scope mount on sale recently for 299.99. But, of course they had only one or two at each store around here, and some stores with none. They also had the Moss 500 with rifled barrel, canti mount, scope, two different rise cheek combs, shot barrel and scopes. Wood stocks. Virtually none of these in the stores around here either. They supposedly get 1-2/month.

Dicks was so gracious to offer rainchecks on these guns - they had like 50 rainchecks issued already. Let's do that math - maybe they would call me in, maybe 3 years.

I think Dick's is a big bait & switch store and they can stick it. (I was going for the Moss in 20 gauge - but BS was all they were selling.)

Ever consider an H&R Ultra Slug Hunter? Around $200/$225. You can put on a scope and be under $300/$350 easily.

Check your local pawn shops. Right now there are at least four 870s w rifle bbls in my local shop. Price is about $100 less than new.

Last year I purchased an 870 Combo with a rifled barrel for $350.00 from Gander Mountain. Best purchase that I have made!

I wouldn't go to a pawn shop. http://gunbroker.com/is wonderful. If you purchase from this site, be sure you purchase from a seller who has MUCH positive feedback. I bought a Mossberg shotgun &love it. The transfer FFL was surprised that I only paid $125.00 for it and said it's about 10-yr old but looks like it wasn't really used.

here mine.. mossberg 835.. when the season is over im senting the scope mounts and the barrel to get dipped so ill have a full camo gun
